Assembly Considerations
This type of ultrasonic assembly is generally used for large parts or sheets, and requires no preformed holes or energy directors. It is used to join two layers of thermoplastic resin with similar melting temperatures at separate point locations strategically positioned across the assembly.

In ultrasonic spot welding, the pilot tip melts through the first surface. As the tip penetrates the second or bottom surface, displaced molten plastic flows between the two surfaces, forming the bond.
