Polyurethanes for solvent-free adhesives
 Under
the name Desmomelt®, Bayer markets a range of high-molecular-weight
polyurethanes terminated with hydroxyl groups and specifically developed
for the production of solvent-free hot-melt adhesives. In particular,
Desmomelt® hydroxyl polyurethanes are polyaddition products
of bifunctional polyesters and isocyanates.
Properties: Adhesives based on Desmomelt® have excellent
adhesion to textile substrates and many industrially used materials,
as well as very good resistance properties. The Desmomelt 530 and
540 grades are supplied in granule form, while Desmomelt VP KA 8702
and VP KA 8742 come in powder form.
Uses: Adhesives
based on Desmomelt® 530 and 540 are used above all for the lamination
of leather and fabric. Adhesives based on Desmomelt VP KA 8702 and
VP 8742 are used for the bonding-in of shoe caps.
