Baydur® STR RIM system

Baydur® STR is a rigid-polyurethane, structural-foam reaction-injection-molding system that is used in the production of structural composite parts with long-fiber reinforcements. The reinforcement is placed in the mold, which is closed and then filled with the reactive resin. Baydur STR composites can be ten times stiffer than Baydur structural foams and have excellent impact properties.

These properties offer a wide range of application options including instrument panel supports, consoles and door panels, roof panels and seat trim, spoilers, seat shells and backrests, spare-wheel wells and covers, luggage compartment floors and engine shrouds as well as pick-up truck boxes. The non-reinforced version of this Baydur system is used to produce rear spoilers that can be painted the same color as the car.

For more information about Baydur products and polyurethane reaction injection molding, visit our Bayer RIM Technology Web Site . This site includes a wide variety of application examples and technical papers.
