Dispercoll® U polyurethane dispersions

Dispercoll® U products are aliphatic, high-molecular-weight, waterborne polyurethane dispersions used for the formulation of heat-activated adhesives in the furniture, automotive, footwear and construction industries.

Dispercoll U polyurethane dispersions are high-performance adhesive raw materials, which have been shown in Bayer's tests to have performance comparable to polyurethane resins used in solvent-based adhesives. Dispercoll U polyurethane dispersions have outstanding bonding properties on most synthetic and natural materials.

Dispercoll U polyurethane dispersions were developed to help address the increasing environmental demands on the adhesive industry to produce adhesives containing little or no solvent. These waterborne polyurethanes will reduce solvent emissions into the atmosphere and reduce the fire hazards associated with most solvent-based adhesives. Dispercoll U polyurethane dispersions are based on aliphatic polyisocyanates and therefore offer good resistance to discoloration. These products are stabilized only by small amounts of internal emulsifiers, which contribute to their water resistance properties. Other outstanding properties of the Dispercoll U product line include excellent adhesion to plasticized PVC and other plastics, good heat resistance and compatibility with many compounding ingredients, including resin dispersions, emulsifiers and thickeners. Their adhesion to plasticized PVC and utility in heat-reactivation bonding applications is accomplished through a crystalline polyester polyol backbone. These polyurethane dispersions may also be used in wet bonding adhesive applications.
